Chisinau, June 17, 2025<\/strong> - How environmental policies can be turned into benefits for people and the economy was the topic of today's closing event of the Parliamentary Committee on Climate, Environment and Green Transition 2021-2025.<\/p>

The discussions in the Parliament were attended by the President of the legislature, Igor Grosu, MPs, representatives of the Government, diplomatic missions, international partners, local authorities, civil society and the business community.<\/p>

During the event were presented the main laws adopted and their effects, environmental programs and projects implemented at local and national level, including sewerage projects, wastewater treatment plants with regional and local impact, progress in energy efficiency, renewable sources and decarbonization. They also discussed issues related to adapting the economy to environmental regulations, as well as examples of successfully implemented green projects.<\/p>

At the opening of the meeting, the Speaker of the Parliament, Igor Grosu, reiterated the commitment of the legislature to environmental issues, emphasizing that they have been permanently on the Parliament's agenda. \"I believe that we have managed to adopt policies, laws, ratify agreements and make progress in their implementation. I am also glad to note that the National Afforestation Program has aroused great interest across the country - a conclusion I reached based on personal observations, participation in planting activities and discussions with mayors from various localities, who showed their support and facilitated afforestation actions,\" Igor Grosu said.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The President of Parliament also underlined<\/strong>\u00a0that one of the major priorities addressed by the legislature was waste management.\u00a0\"We are witnessing unprecedented climate change, some of it irreversible. We need to recognize, even belatedly, the need to make up for what was not done in time. Everyone has understood that we need a coherent and responsible approach in this area\"<\/em>said Igor Grosu.<\/p>

Among the interventions,\u00a0Mariana Cu\u0219nir<\/strong>, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Environment, Climate and Green Transition, said that over the past four years, the committee has promoted public policies and regulations focused on soil protection, conservation of natural resources and preparing the Republic of Moldova for adaptation to climate change. The parliamentarian also emphasized that today's event is not only a conclusion of activities, but also an opportunity to reflect on future directions for action.\u00a0\"Today we not only take stock, but also launch a collective call for continuity and collaboration. In addition, the Vice-President of the Commission acknowledged the continued support of development partners, who have contributed to the processes of legislative harmonization, the financing of green infrastructure projects and the implementation of systemic reforms.<\/p>

The closing event of the Committee on Climate, Environment and Green Transition was also the occasion to organize the exhibition entitled\u00a0\"Focus on nature: protected areas through a lens<\/strong>. It showcases a year-long series of photographs taken in three of the country's most important protected areas -\u00a0\"Orhei\" National Park<\/strong>,\u00a0Lower Dniester National Park<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0\"Codrii\" Nature Reserve<\/strong>\u00a0- highlighting both the beauty and vulnerability of these unique ecosystems.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
